The clients had a new extension with bi-fold doors. The garden was the width of the house but quite long and laid mainly to lawn.
The existing garden was mainly lawn with a building site left next to the new extension and a vegetable bed at the bottom of the garden next to a greenhouse. The clients wanted a seamless integration with a new patio and a garden to enjoy when dining outside, together with a productive vegetable garden.
A patio was laid using Natural Paving Golden Fossil sandstone. A screen of diamond trellis panels and a rose arch in Gorse Green from The Garden Trellis Company separated the patio area from the rest of the garden. Planting in the patio area had a blue, pink and purple colour scheme with silver foliage plants - Achillea millefolium 'Cerise Queen' with Artemisia ludoviciana 'Valerie Finnis', Agapanthus, Nepeta, Penstemon 'Sour Grapes', Sedum 'Carl' together with pink and purple tulips for spring and Nerines for autumn. A path of Bradstone Woburn Rumbled block pavers led through the rose arch to the vegetable garden beyond. The greenhouse was also moved to a sunnier and more convenient location.
